Team Orlando Diving wins the 2008 East National Diving Championships for the 6th consecutive year!
15 members of Team Orlando Diving qualified for the East Diving Championships held in Rockville, Maryland this weekend. The team dominated the girls events winning the team title by 60 points!
Twelve year old Wallace Layland of Conroy led them by sweeping both 1Meter and 3Meter springboard events. Sydney Couch of Winderemere won bronze in both 12-13 age group events. Orlando’s Cinzia Calabretta won double silver for the 14-15 girls, and Thea Vock of Clermont dominated the grls 16-18 age group winning the 1Meter competition and earning silver on 3Meter. Windermere’s Tom Neubacher won the bronze medal in boys 16-18 3Meter. They have all made the US National Team and have been invited to compete against the British Junior National Team in Leeds, at the end of May.
Team Orlando coaches Jay and Wendy Lerew are happy with their results and are back at the pool training for the Summer US Nationals and World Championships in August. |
